  • Wall painting

    Hi all,
here is another merged/pano image from two images, this building is in a garden and dozens and dozens of tourists were milling around, I was unable to photograph the interior in one go so three or four were taken hand held and two were merged to produce this result, another venue to return to with a tripod at a quieter time.the paining I believe is of a scene from the spanish civil war? not sure though. all comments/critiques sugestions are welcome.

This has knitted together very nicely. That's a good use for pano's. I have often wondered why more people don't use this method in preference to using a wide-angle lens. Like the image apart from the bright light in the doorway has shown up some colour fringing. Could be removed with your editing software.

      Hi Tinka,

I like the image and think that you have done remarkably well to stitch it, particularly if the individual images weren't taken atst.

Did you use the Fuji S9500?

I like my G3 for panos as there is a guide for vertical and horizontal panos.

I also like the gentle colours.

I like the tones in this photograph. It has a continental look, possibly because of the colours. The freeze looks interesting and begs closer inspection. Shame about the light on the floor in the doorway, it does pull my eye a little, but I do like the glimpse of the outside. The more I look at it the more shapes I see - it's a good one.

Are we talking about liking the scene or the photograph. Saying one likes the tones and colours suggests these have been created by Tinka in his photo, yet he is simply recording them. Also to say he has done well to stitch them is not quite accurate. I can see at least a couple of places where they are not stitched well. In short lets be careful here about what we say regarding the photograph. Having said all that, I love the scene, and the structure/room we are looking at. Where exactly is it?

            Hi all,
Thanks for looking and commenting, Point taken Lumix I will have a go, Hi Audrey, yes the images were taken on the 9500, also the 9500 can be changed to show a grid in the viewfinder, I have not used it yet myself, but found it by accident while fiddling, should read the manual in more depth. Thanks Blithe, I like the colors too, and I will certainly return to get some more shots.
Hi Stephen, thank you for your welcome comments/critique, I am still learning so all points are noted. the building is in the gardens at Chartwell House Winston Churchills house in Kent, where he lived and died.

Tinka, I'm not sure what you are using to stitch your images, but have you tried Autostitch

Its a free download and although the user interface is limited, I found it to be an amazing little program. You don't even have to install a program, it will sit on your desktop or My Docs. As you will see on their website, it will stitch several rows of images, even if taken at diferent exposures and focal lengths, amazing

                Hi Stephen,
Many thanks for the link, I sure will give it a go, I used photoshop to stitch these, at the moment I am really into pano's, so it looks like a tripod will have to be going with me in future. The name of Churchills house is Chartwell house

                  Re: Wall painting

Interesting building and murals. From the uniforms it looks a bit earlier than the Spanish Civil War, perhaps it is the Peninsular War? Where is the building?

                    Re: Wall painting

Certainly looks more like the Peninsular war that the Spanish civil war.

For me, not a great picture but a nice record of the room.
