  • Wish you were here!

The pool at the Sheraton, Benidorm, Spain. 8 seconds exposure, ISO 100, f/8.

I'm very pleased with the exposure, (though I think the colour can be tweaked when I get a chance to process this in RAW), but I'm not quite sure about the verticals...

Eeee by gum! The Sheraton no less Ian! Larney fella you! I like the pic but agree that tweaking would improve pic even more! Shadows perhaps & saturation!

As Dennis guessed, us journos weren't paying - in fact we were staying in the slightly less spectacular Westin section of the complex. anyway.

The saturation is not great because you are viewing it on-screen via a Web browser. It looks better in Photoshop, but the blues are suffering from the warmth of the artificial lighting, I feel. I will return to this as soon as I can process E-510 RAW files in PS.

        Inprove it?
If I had taken it I would be one very happy photographer, But I suppose that is the difference between experience, and amateurs like me. The verticles look ok to me to. An excellent night shot.

A beautifully lit photograph. The bluey green reflection on the right is appealing to me and has a quiet feel, whilst the left hand side is darker yet looks as though there is activity. I like the sweeping lines of the pool steps which take my eye up then across to the castellated doorway. I can see the verticals at odds too but wouldn't know how to go about altering it. I think it is the reflections of the buildings which seem out, but perhaps that is because of the water? It's a photograph which I do like though.

I have some more shots from the same hotel - including daylight ones.

Looks a 'cracker' to me ..... I love shots like this one

Maybe slightly 'off balance' with the height all one side, but I'd still be happy with it

The first thing I noticed was the verticals. Its falling over to the right - common occurance with me when I press too hard on the shutter release. I would have used the straightening tool on one of the central verticals first and then if necessary after that done a image transformation job on the perspective. But the rest of it I really like as is - gives a great impression of luxury and would have made an excellent shot for the night shots assignment.

                  Hi Ian,

I love the colours but I'd certainly be trying to correct the lean to the right.
