  • Bend in the river

    Hi all,
Here is a panorama made up of three images taken at 28mm setting on a zoom lens, this is the first "acceptable"? pano I have created, there has been some degradation in optimiseing for the web/forum,comments critique welcome,
    Many thanks,

First this is a nice scene and I believe you have made a couple of minor errors when you took this. I would say that the exposure was not the same for all three images. This shows up even though most panorama programmes try to blend the images. Also I suspect that a tripod was not used. This could be why the right hand side appears to slope upwards. When I take panoramas I fix the exposure to the center image. Then move the camera to the right and use that exposure to take all the shots. With the camera on a tripod the images will all remain level. I also use manual focus so that the focal point stays constant. Hope I've got I right, but that's how it looks to me.

      Hi Lumix,
Many thanks for looking and commenting, You are quite right, the images were taken hand held useing aperture priority auto and auto focus, the reason being that I was out walking with the family when we came across this vista, I had to climb a hill to get an vantage point and as usual I was being left behind, so six exposures were taken and the three best used. Thank you for your advice re exposure technique and manual focus, I will return to the scene and try again.
      Best wishes.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that gets left behind. Same thing happens when you stop to look in a camera shop window.

No idea what happened there Ron, but I've corrected it now. Not even sure it was one of Tinkas own images

For some strange reason your Pano disappeared and some else's appeared. Stephen has put it right now. The wonders of the WEB.
