  • Reach For The Sky!

    Hello All!

I tried something different today. I got my camera all the way down on the ground to take a picture looking up from under the flowers. I must say it is different! So I am not really sure about this picture and that is exactly why I am posting it here! Any advice would be helpful!

Hi Jennifer, there is something not quite right with the blue sky - it looks artificial. Did you use auto levels by any chance?

That's because you're not used to seeing blue skies Ian!

Nah - the blue of the sky is either over-saturated or the hue is slightly out - maybe both. There is a stem or branch on the right which is distracting too - would probably crop that out.

          I was being facetious Ian.

But yes even to my untrained eye it all looks a bit grainy. Nice pic though.

            Ian & Paul,

Thank you for your comments.I have re worked it and I am going to put the original on here also if anyone wants to give it a shot. Should I retake the picture with different settings?

It was taken at 30th sec @ f29 I'd suggest f8 would be quite adequate but that would give you over 250th sec. which will freeze most motion and hopefull give a sharper result.

I much prefer this style of flower photo, generally better than the old lens directed down into the flower IMO. Apart from anything else it shows you are thinking about alternative composition and ways to make a more dynamic image.
