  • An antsy ant

Here's a macro-shot of an ant I took recently. I quite happy with how it turned out.

    Lovely shot!

What was the camera and lense used here? Looks like a flash was used as well.

Just one thing though, have you considered cloning out the top out of focus leaf?

    Super capture.

Olympus E-400 with a Sigma 105mm macro-lens. I used the cameras popup-flash as a fill-in because of poor light-conditions underneath the dense foliage in the forest where this pic was shot. I had to shoot handheld... these ants were constantly moving so I had to follow them around with my lens and hunt for sharp focus at the same time. I was lucky to get this great shot.

I thought about it but I don't think the leaf distracts too much from the subject matter... I generally avoid "photoshopping" my pics because I want to preserve the original shot rather than taking short-cuts by post-editing unwanted details.

      Super capture.
      Thanks!

        Hi,
What a brilliant shot. I love macro photos and have the same lens, although it might be a while before my shots are like that.

          Antsy Ant Part II

I went back to the same place where I shot the first ant-picture.. I found more ants there. I shot yet another ant-picture with quite a lot of detail! Maybe it gets boring to look at ants, but I thought I'd still share this shot with everyone.

          Here it is:
