Just thought I would share a couple of Nigella (Love-in-the-Mist) flowers that have finally shown themselves from my garden

I like them, they look like delicate tissue, like the way you have taken the blue one best, but can see why you took the pink one.
would like to see the pink one in a similar shot to the blue one.

as far as I can see not a lot wrong with them cracking shots

Nigella in the garden is a must. Mine aren't flowering yet. I like the second photograph showing the stamens rising like a crown. The softness of both suits the nature of the flowers but the first one to my eye doesn't appear to be quite in focus - the spiny ruff appears sharper, or perhaps you did this on purpose - they do have this appearance sometimes in the garden. The dark green background is perfect, showing the true colour of the flowers. I'm off to look at mine.

the second one is the best for me. It is sharper than the first and the composition seems more interesting and less cluttered. Too much (obviously only my humble opinion ) is blurred inthe first

        Best Regards

          Thanks for the comments everyone!

The blue one in my opinion the weaker picture also. The lack of focus is because of the lack of light, I had to open the apperture as wide as possible, losing DoF.

Love the 2nd shot. You have shown up the stamens beautifully.

I like both, but agree that the second one is better - I just like blue flowers!

haha....you didnt read my post then! lol!

Nigella's are superb, your best off just buying a packet of seeds, once you have your seeds, they are pretty much chuck em where you want em, and forget!

They will grow just about anywhere, let them go to seed, (the tops will go brown, and are pretty atractive in their own right) then give the seeds away to freinds, and the ones that fall on the ground will come back again.

They are SO easy to grow!

Are these the plants that produce the 'Nigella Seeds' (of The Apprentice fame from a couple of shows ago?) - used in Asian cooking?
