Comments please!I took this the other evening. I did change this to monochrome and had to do a small bit of cropping. Nothing else was done to it.For some reason this looks grainy after downloading it? My original version looks more crisp. Can anyone explain this? Thanks in advance!

A look at the exif info on your gallery page reveals that the camera was set to ISO 1600 - noise grain is inevitable at this sensitivity and it will be all the more visible when cropping the image.
Did you have the camera set to full-auto or did you intentionally used ISO 1600?
Actually it was one of those DUH?? momments. Normally I check my settings before taking a picture but that day i quickly grabbed the camera for one of those "moments". I feel so embarased now! Would giving the picture a soft touch help it any in your opinion?

There are ways of reducing the noise or grain, but detail and sharpness will have to be sacrificed in the process. Can you re-take the shot somehow?
If its any consolation to you I made exactly the same mistake on my one and only trip up the cable car to the top of Table Mountain on my recent holiday to SA. I am still kicking myself becuase I was so excited when taking the pics as there were some really dramatic weather conditions up there. I have been trying to fix the pictures up on photoshop by doing selective blurring in the worst effected areas ever since but know full well that they will never be good pics except for a couple where strangely enought the high ISO did work i.e. a high contrast pic looking towards the setting sun and one of the city centre which produced a lot of fine and interesting detail in the buildings.

What a shame, this would have been priceless if it wasnt for that grain.
I wonder whether you could make anything from this, mind if I have a play this evening?
