I was having a play with my daughters Oly E500 yesterday and came up with this abstractish type of shot.
There was loads of lifgt behind this and the headstock was thrown into darkness by the camera. So, actually there was very little post processing except for a bit of eftra contrast and a small blast in levels.
Anyone like this type of thing?

I like the concept Tom, though somehow I'm left wanting to see more detail, especially on the left side

Hey, I like this sort of image, Whacky and experimental, A great abstract image of an every (almost) day object, looks like a guitar head. Interesting and different.

Nice image, I really like it, but I still think that to retain interest it needs a little more, perhaps a little higher up the guitar(?) to show some of the detail around the top - there must be a technical term for that twisty piece at the top of a guitar or violin or why but I don't know what it is!

            Hi Tom,

            I like it .

My first impression was that I'd prefer it landscape but having played I think you've got it right. The only thing that I think I might change would be to boost the brightness of the left most string where it fades towards the bottom of the frame, it seems just a bit too much darker than the other two strings.

              Re: Machine Head

Doesn't really work for me - this pic. It was only after reading what others said that I had to go back and struggle to see that it was a stringed instrument (being somewhat ignorant as to what an Oly E500 is!!). If you don't know what it is its difficult to get interested but perhaps if it were a bit sharper it would do the trick.

I like this type of photograph where just the highlights are captured, my eye being taken directly to the centre peg, which gives the impression of being well used with the grainy appearance. The only thing that doesn't sit well with me is the sudden cut off of the edge of the neck at centre bottom.

I meant the curly bit at the top of the instrument.

                    the bit pointed to above.

I believe that part is known as the "Scroll" and is just decorative.

The "Oly 500" is an Olympus E-500 dSLR camera.

I must admit I was also unsure whether the instrment might be a 'fiddle' or perhaps a steel string guitar.
