I have been playing around with this this afternoon. I now like to think its a better version then the one I have posted in the salon competition. I would not have been able to enter this one as its not my sky photo.

But it isnt looking up to me peter!
I love this shot, to my eye though, it looks like the steps are going down, very bizarre and intriguing!
I am a big fan of Escher, and this reminds me of his work.

I think you have hit the nail on the head so to speak. What is looking up??. I have been looking at some of the photos that Have been posted and to me they are looking down onto someone looking up. I guess it all depends on how you look at it. We could all be wrong or then again we may all be right.
