First of all, I am back, been a little busy of late so haven't had much time for my baby, Whilst shooting some pics at the rally this weekend I decided to try a different perspective, Do these work for you. I will post a few more later for comment but am really intersted in your opinions on these two.

I shot about 400 pics over the weekend which I will be posting later today on my own site, I will advise those that are interested enough to look through 100's of pics where they will be. but I will be posting another 2 or three here after the wench thats nagging lets me come back from the shops

http://www.photocorner.co.za/content The site is still under construction but the first gallery is up for previewing, If you get there and its broke try again a little later

Hi Guy, when you say different perspective what exactly do you mean? Is it the portrait format, or the position of the car in the frame.

I don't have a problem with either, though it does mean in this instance that the cars are smaller in the frame than they otherwise may be. I prefer the second shot, mainly because you see the car coming towards the camera, whilst in the first shot its partly obscured by the dust. I don't think the cloud of dust works so well in this instance, esp as its hiding the car. Had it been a sideways on shot where you saw all the car and the cloud of dust behind then for me that would have worked better.

I'd suggest also that the cars are slightly soft. This maybe because you were not using AI focus, and the focus point in the bottom of the frame. Am I right ?

Not had a look at others on your site yet, but will.

Portrait format, getting the scale of the background is what I had in mind, I have lots of pics of the cars and I was using AI focus, I suspect that the focus is sharper on the trees because thats the centre of the image. I found a number of soft focus shots on the weekend but liked these.

Ah ic Guy. I like the idea of putting the cars in the context of the landscape, makes it more than just shots of cars IMO. I do think you may need to move the focus point though so make sure the cars are spot on in focus.

I wonder if there is motion blur causing the cars to look soft as the trees look sharper?
