  • Swan song

    Hi all,
This gentleman was makeing a real racket as I took photographs, I think he was warning me off as his mate was on the nest in the background. I was out with the family and being told not to dawdle too much so I did not get as many pics as I would have liked, comments welcome as usual.

    Gert,

The swan is nice. I like that it fills the frame.
I think decreasing the contrast will make it more appealing and the swan will be distinguished better from the water.

I like your Australian Black Swan...for me it's been quite difficult getting the definition of feathers on these fowl...whether its because of the black (absorbs light instead of reflecting I think?) Great full frame!

        Hi Tinka,

Lovely swan but I find the water too distracting. Darkening the water at the top may help but I think there are just too many highlights in the water. Given more time to dawdle getting down a bit lower towards swan eye level may get a better background but you may then lose the lovely feather details. (Getting to eye level could be difficult depending on how upset the swan is!)

          Hi vernon,
Thank you for looking and for your comments, I see your point re the water and position, but the fella was none too friendly and there were some logs etc: makeing life difficult as well, I also agree that one needs to be able to take time to dawdle and think, which isnt to easy with the family around
