A slightly more depressing piece in my opinion, but I felt I needed to get something like this done. The building is actually supposed to be underexposed to really bring out the sky. Opinions/Critique/Praise/Whatever you throw at me is welcome

    Thanks,

Sorry Matt, I don't really get it. How is the picture representing The End? Is it the feeling of impending doom you have tried to create by darkening the building and making the sky more dramatic? If so then OK, I'm seeing that. However I still don't really buy it from the point of view of your preamble.

I can understand underexposing in order to keep detail in the sky, I do it all the time. But then I usually try to lift the underexposed area, in order to correct it.

You then say you needed to get something like this done What exactly did you need to get done?

I can see you have added some vignetting too, which seems to have created a sort of halo effect round the tower. All in all there is little colour left in the image, perhaps you should have tried a mono conversion.

One last thing, I had a go at lightening the tower to bring out its texture and structure more. If I'm honest its not exactly sharp, yet I feel it should have been. What were your camera settings. Now this is The End

      Re: The End

      1) The End - I'm not quite sure on your possible explaination, but I felt the title suited due to the actual appearance of the image. It has a very 'Doomsday' feel to it.

      2) By 'Needed to get something like this done' I meant architecture in general, and this sort of shot really.

      3) I would consider a monotone version, may give it a try soon, although I quite like colour being in the image. I may try and make the colours stand out a bit more instead by increasing the vibrance.

      4) Unfortunately i'm unable to release to you the camera settings, due to the fact when I added vignetting I accidently saved over the original file on this computer. Until I get access to my fathers laptop, I won't be able to give you the details. I can assure you, however, it was taken on an automatic mode on my compact.

        Re: The End

        Hi Matt,

The sky does have an apocalyptic feel to it but I don't find the image works for me. The tower has tantalising glimpses of detail that I'd prefer to see (or go the whole way and make it a silhouette). I would also straighten the tower, or is the lean part of the mood you are trying for?
