    Dear All,

Took a trip to Wendover in the Chilterns yesterday and driving home we saw this wood of bluebells. Brakes slammed on car abandoned "Mostly in a ditch" according to my other half!

I laydown on the edge of the flowers and went for a layers shot.

    Comments welcomed.

    Best Regards

    Josh

    Re: Wildflowers

Sorry Josh but maybe I need new glasses. I just can't find a clear sharp focus point except perhaps for that very small cluster standing taller than the rest and smack bang in the centre. Could well be that this was intended when you composed the shot.
Tha background is a bit to abstractish for my taste but.....that is just MO

      Hi Josh,

I am sorry but this just doesnt do it for me.
I think had you included more of the bottom of the flowers, and maybe filled a little more of the frame with them it wouldhave worked a little better.

As it is, there is just too much out of focus.

      Cheers,
      Ben

        Re: Wildflowers

I look forward to the bluebells appearing each year. You obviously have them earlier where you are - they're not fully open here as yet.

I can see what you were trying to do and have tried to get the same result myself. I feel that portrait mode where the eye can move upwards from a very 'in focus' flower would work better. Holding two cards to the screen on each side of the central (or left hand side) clump works better for me.

No getting away from that very distinct hyacinth blue colour though - can't wait for them to appear here.

I am going to be different Josh, "I nearly like it."

I can see what you were trying to do and I like the top two blurred layers, I just think that there are insufficent bluebells in the foreground for the other two layers, albeit they are all about "thirds." I almost feel that the bluebells should be twice as deep as they are and as Pops says some should definitely be more in focus receding into your other blurred layers.

            Rather "Painterly". Have another go.

It is easy for me to say that they should be more in focus, I have yet to get bluebells in focus. I find them devilishly hard, together with the fact I usually get burnt out bits on the edges of the petals.

Well with the bluebells just beginning to show their heads, we both should be able to get it some practice.

                Hi Josh,

I'm like Audrey, I nearly like it.

I like the idea and I like foreground and middle ground. There are two aspects that spoil it for me. Firstly I think the background colour is too dominant, there's just too much yellow in it, a darker, greener, colour would work better. The second thing is the vertical trunk in the middle-ground, I think this could be cloned out.
