These are quite pleasant, Cam, the lighting is nice and I quite like the contrast with the out of focus background, though the leaning doorway in the left one does grate a bit

Personally I don't care for the b/g and would have preffered something plain.
(that doesn't mean I don't like your kitchen ) The flowers themselves are beautifully sharp and I like the way you have positioned them.

I was prepared to be critical about the background too, but my first impression wasn't really negative. It kind of meant to me that here was an ordinary dwelling (signified by the background) brightened up by this rather lovely assortmenty of spring flowers. Maybe it's the artistic side of me showing through

Whereas most would make the flowers the full feature of the frame I think your novel approach works well. The inclusion of the mundane, every day environment works well and brings a sense of "normality" and reality to the flower set up.
Very interesting with lots of potential; beginning of a trend?

            Re: Flower and a kitchen

Thanks guys. To be honest this was done on the fly. I was working on an essay on my laptop (out of frame) and smelled the flowers. There was a nice bit on sunlight outside so I positioned them on the table with the light to my back. Then I just snapped away. I was really trying to learn the differences with the f-stops and what effect they would have on my images.
All part of he learning curve for me.

Thanks for your comments. I will try and get some more nice pictures of them with a nice background if I can find the right angle.

              Hi Cam,
Lovely flowers and a good experiment, thats the way to learn, seeing the opportunity and takeing it is a major part of photography.
