Love the shot Ian, its the sort of scene that most visitors would never see or have the opportunity to capture. There is a lot to be said for being in a position where you have the opportunity and its just too good to stay in bed and miss. You can pick out the Excalibur to the left and the Mandalay Bay to the right too. Your picture also gives a good indication of the sort of desert terrain that surrounds Vegas.

You probably won't recall those two monsters to the right of the Luxor, Stephen, I'll bet they weren't there last time you were in Las Vegas

It's breathtaking! Beautiful tones, fabulous scenery and the reflection of the red sunrise in the windows is just wonderful!

The 'layered' hills provide a perfect background - each one well defined too.

          Altogether a belter imo.

Indeed, I was there in 2003 and don't recall them. I seem to remember the Luxor being the last major hotel on this end of the strip

I was last there in 2004 and the monorail wasn't yet running. There are several new hotels finished that weren't there then, too.

The monorail is a bit of a disappointment. It looks cool, very Thunderbirds! But It's quite a bumpy and unrefined ride

The hotels remain amazing though - I'll upload some more pix later. Went to an Eric Clapton concert at the MGM Grand, the theatre has a 15,000 seat capacity, which is more than Wembley Arena

And the MGM Grand has three other theatres, too.

Thanks, Ben I'm probably going to show how ignorant I am - but what is 'WPT'?

I checked the verticals on the hotels to the right and the inaccuracy is 0.3 of a degree

WPT = World Poker Tour, if you have never been into poker, you would have never known. Its like the world cup for gamblers! lol!

0.3 of a degree.....shows how good my eye is!
