  • Keep off the wall

This is the camera on the edge of the wall at the top if the Hoover Dam, which is about three quarters of an hour outside of Las Vegas. This was taken just as the sun was setting. It would probably look good as a mono view. Again, comments welcome!

A super-wide angle lens (14mm equivalent) was used, but the depth of field obtained was at just f/5. The shot is un-cropped.

I thought it was the Hoover Dam. We took a picture from the water, which is the Colorado River. One of our best trips ever.

Your picture certainly makes the wall look large and the dam look small. I think it is a good representation of the Dam. It probably would look reasonable as a mono view, but you would lose the rich colour of the earth which I like. Anyway, I just like colour.

Iagree with Audrey, I dont think it would lend itself to mono, the colours are too nice to lose!

I am torn as to wether the text should be straight though?

Super image though Ian, you get a real sense of scale (even if itis exaggerated with that lense) makes me feel uneasy being scared of heights though! hehe!

        Ian,

I think the hues need some correction.
Turning it to BW it will work as in my opinion the picture will not loose much from the color, or if you prefer there is no variety of very interesting colors.
But I think the photo with some post processing can be corrected in color.
I did something here with it and I have a "Sunset" and a "Normal" version for you.

        Sunset Version

        Normal Version

I love the shot, but for me the writing on the wall spoils the glory of the picture, I hope you took one without!

I took zillions of views, Ash Both with and without the warning and at different angles. I'll post some alternatives later.

I think the words add loads to the picture. The fact that such a view needs the word "Danger"

I think this is a great picture.

              Best Regards

I love this shot for it's perspective.
I have enjoyed all your LV shots Ian. For somone who doesn't get the chance to travel shots like yours are not only revealing but can also be educational. That shot of the Dam for instance, never seen one like it in any books and the LV shot from the hill was out of this world
