Too white?

Dear All,

Using sunlight onto a white piece of card and then intensifying the light using a reflector I created a really white background. I then exposed for the flowers and got this effect.

I would welcome comments and critique. Is the background too white?

If its a white background you want, then its not too white. There's nothing worse IMO than a dirty grey/white background. If you were in the studio, you would put a flash on the background to over expose it by a stop or so and clean it up. With your shot, exposing for the flower has effectively done the same and overexposed the background, therefore cleaning it up and making it whiter. So long as its not too much and causes bleed into the subject, I think its OK. With this particular shot, I think a little more light on the flower may lift it a bit.

BTW that gizmo you are using to hold the flower looks a bit problematical Doesn't the slightest vibration on the floor make it move ?

Have found it very useful for holding flowers. I attach the other end to a second tripod and seems very stable.
