    Re: late

Jon posted this on the old forum and I persuaded him to repost it here. The symmetry of the swirling staircase is contrasted by the motion of the figure and then there is the bleak aspect of the concrete - and yet it looks fresh and alive. It invoked an interesting contrasting mix of feelings on me at least!

      Re: late

I'm very drawn to this style of shot, though I can't seem to do it myself.

It has a certain 'loneliness' about it - a feeling of urgency to get out of a passageway and into the safety of the everyday crowds again. I like the processing too. I feel it works well to enhance the general atmosphere, the starkness alongside the 'urgency' - the sudden rush of the figure getting by as fast as she can. It generates a hint of fear either from her or for her.

The shot reminds of some of the work of Jeff Spirer- I'm a fan of his 'Alone' gallery - I'm pretty sure I've posted a link to his website in the past.

Great photo Jon, I love it. The figure rushing up the stairs works very well. In an ideal world you should have been able to get her to do it again to get some at different speeds etc
