  • Mummy & Her Baby's

Did a little macro stuff today, well not really macro as this was taken with a 50mm f1.8 lens. I dont have a macro lens, yet I must say though that these little 50 milli lenses are the mutts nutts for 80 quid, there like little golden nuggetts, I splashed out and went for the 'made in japan' version, which is apparently supposed to be better made, I cant really comment as I have not used any others to compare.

    f16 for 10 seconds @ iso 100

Pic is pretty much how it came off the camera, slightly cropped all the way around, as the closest focus with this lens is about 2 ft, and slightly sharpened.

I did use a small torch at the bottom right of the flowers.

    cheers
    Ash.

I really like the composition and contrasty colours on this Ash (natty title too). I particularly like the delicate translucency to the large petals. However, "mummy's tummy" looks to be lacking definition (as though that bit has been saved, re-saved and saved to death again) - not sure what the technical term for it is! I also like the way you have "signed" it on the edge of the petal (although that's probably not to everyone's taste). I like it. Well done.

Nicely composed with lovely rich colour but.........
I do wish you hadn't placed your sig on one of the petals. I feel it would be far less obtrusive down in the bottom right corner in a grey colour. (white with a lowered opacity would do it)
