  • Huddies in the Subbie

On walkabout Saturday afternoon and came across these very dodgy looking characters, I dont think they noticed me as they were probly high on crack and cider
So I went into stealth mode and snapped them as they were admiring there creation!
I think the short one was packin some heat, was definatley hiding something!

It was a very scary experience, and Im so glad I survived to bring you this pic.

    Ide like your thoughts please.
    cheers
    Ash.

Great comical side there Ash and I appreciate the vintage colour is trying to capture the 'darker side of life'.

Personally, I would have preferred this shot though in B&W.
B&W wouldn't have dressed up the colour so much and is a much more natural choice in mood capture.

Still... it's a very nice choice of composition.

      Ash.

      Love this one Ash!

The mono conversion works superbly, not sure what P8rson means as it looks black and white to me?

The only thing I would be tempted to do, is clone out the 'exit' to give it a more imposing feel.......it might not work, but I would like to see it without the 'light at the end of the tunnel' and may be crop a little off the right.

      Superb though, very gritty!

great photo ash! i hope you're not saying your other half is a crack hoo'er though?
like ben, i think that cloning the end of the tunnel will really enhance the menace in the photo (well, it did when i quickly covered it with my black mp3 player!). composition is great and the choice of colouring i'm undecided on. sepia works, but on trying b/w, it gives the pic a more urban, gritty, reportage feel.

cracking photo and one to be justifiably proud of!

It's done in 'Sepia' mode which gives an older vintage type feel to the shot.

Again I would have liked to have seen this shot in B&W; as devilgas states "b/w, it gives the pic a more urban, gritty, reportage feel.", which I totally agree, or as I gave "much more natural choice in mood capture."

Looks like a good "self portrait" to me Ash.

I differ from Ben here and feel that the exit is an essential inclusion in this one and offers some balance.
This a good image that could have been great. I just feel that the adult, lacking any body language, looks a bit static and instead of observing the kid, would have been better off being a bit animated like having a tissue in the hand trying to remove the grafitti etc. In other words the adults mess things up again

              Hi Ash,
Great urban image, works great in mono and tinted, imo nothing need be altered in the image, however I dare you to go back and photograph some real hoodies/users but don't forget the re-inforcements or lose ya kit.

It's a great photo and I loved your intro.
Just wondering if a human sillouhuette at the exit would add a bit of menace to the image

                    Re: Huddies in the Subbie

Thanks for your input, the b&w as it stood did not have enough impact for me and the introduction of the sepia tinge, maybe a little overcooked, made it look more dirty, which is what I was initially after, I agree my wife could do with looking a bit more nauty and up to no good, she does that best in the bedroom

I have tried the pic without the exit to the subbie but I personally prefer it with as I think it adds interest, but that said would look better with a couple more shaddy sillouettes at the end.

This did start out as being a fun snapshot, but after a bit of post prosessing and some input from you guys, I have decided its one to do a little more work on and stick in the portfolio.

                    cheers
