The Lost Village of Tyneham

We visited here but I don't think I have ever posted any images before. There is wonderful but sad story behind what is left of the village. You certainly go back in time when visiting.

I have also converted this to mono just leaving the red flowers, which I think works. I have a close up of the upstairs grate but felt I needed to post this first because it was too isolated.

Sometimes, I think it is necessary to post a few to get the feel of the place.

I would welcome a critique. Seeing it here I think the black border is too heavy and it is too saturated. (It looks more saturated on this site than in Photoshop.)

The one thing that messes this up Autumn is the modern brickwork thats been carried out in the old fireplace. Other than that it's a grand shot with very nice range of colours which I do not think are oversaturated.
I do feel that the border is simply too heavy.

Thanks Tom. Here is a close up with a less heavy border, which I am still not happy with. I shall probably have to stick to my Dropped Shadow.

The one thing that messes this up Autumn is the modern brickwork thats been carried out in the old fireplace.

Is it the presentation and border of the shots you need opinions on Audrey, or the photography.

With regard to the border frames, its very much a personal thing, though there are clearly times when some frames do not work with a picture. With these, I don't think they are too bad, but you seem somewhat unhappy with them.

For me I would make them slightly more subtle with not such a broad stroke line. I often use a 1 pixel stroke line in white or black to begin with then increase the canvas by an appropriate amount depending on the size of the image, maybe 50pixels on an 800pix wide image, then fill with the opposite colour to the stroke, but of course there are so many variations on this and its best not to be prescriptive.

With regard to the photos, well essentially they are record shots of the wall and fireplaces, and there is nothing more to say. The schoolroom though has been sensitively treated with the toneing and helps give the feel of the time it depicts I rather like it though the lone figure does detract a little.

These images are reminicent of images of war damaged london and other towns and cities, as has been said before, they are record images and should be viewed in tandem with the story. photographicly the images look fine on my monitor.
