  • Wish You Were Here

This is one of my latest photos called Wish You Were Here, taken in Wollaton Park in Nottingham. It's a panorama shot composed of 3 separate images which were combined in The Panorama Factory.

It looks well stiched together but to be honest i am not an expert in panoramas .

However the one thing the picture lacks for me is foreground interest. There is nothing to grab you and drag you in. Also the flare on the left is quite distracting and perhaps needs cropping off.

    Best Regards

Well done on the panorama shot, that looks good stitching, only had a go at it a couple of times.

But sorry to say the actual picture does nothing for me, if you had something of focal interest that would be better,

I agree with Josh Bear the flare on the left side does a lot to destract from the main picture.

I think I agree with Josh, but the main thing is that it's a convincing stitch job and you can now have the confidence to try something a bit more challenging interms of subject detail

I see. I actually intended for the flare to be included as I thought it added to the picture in some way, evidently that is not the case! I'll take this into consideration on future panoramas.

Matt, people seem to think so far that you have done a good job on the stiching, whilst in reality I think you know that the program has done all the work here.

You have input 3 rather dubious shots, clicked a few buttons and set it do the business. I know Panorama Factory, I use it and it gives pretty good results. In this instance however you can clearly see where the program has struggled to get a good match and blend together the scene. Which kind of brings into question the quality of the raw material so to speak.

Not only this but I wonder what exactly you were trying to achieve in this scene, what attracted you to it and to attempt a panorama. If it was simply an exercise, something to try and therefore become familiar with the technique, then fair enough, its certainly good to practice on pretty much anything that allows such a thing

Now I'm sorry if all this sounds harsh, but I wouldn't be doing you any favours by patting you on the back by saying it was a good job. Its a case of could do better, and I'd love to see you have a go and come up with a better result. Oh and watch that flare on the left, you could easily have cropped it out with no detriment to the end result.
