This is one of my latest images, Symptoms of Withdrawal. The image features a good friend of mine, Becky Clayden, and was taken a few weeks back. Critique is very much welcome and encouraged.

Symptoms of Withdrawal stands out for me, Matt. It's almost as if she doesn't acknowledge your presence; sad but fascinating at the same time and I think the sepia toning works. It might look interesting without the toning, but sharpened up and with noise and contrast added?

Hi Matt, the fact you have put these images in the Critique forum suggests that you are looking for more than brief comments on them. 4 photos though, all at once may be considered by many to be too much, and I would suggest 1 at a time, preferably in separate threads may be a better way of getting meaningful comment. I think Ians post proves the point as he has homed in on one and neglected the others, so as far as you are concerned thats not good.

Offering meaningful critique can be hard work and when there are multiple images it isn't made any easier

One other thing to consider is that peeps are much more prepared to comment on your work, if you return the compliment by commenting and critiquing their pics. Its like earning the attention of others by giving some of your own time.

      Hope that all makes sense
      Stephen

Thanks Steven, i've taken this into consideration and edited this thread to include just the photo, Symptoms of Withdrawal. I'll make new ones for the others. Thanks for the advice.

Ian, I'm glad you like it About the removal of the toning, unfortunately that can't be done as the actual image was taken on my compact using its sepia mode.

Yes, of course the toning can be removed - you just change it to pure black and white. Would you mind if I had a go to demonstrate?

I appreciate the pose which explains the title very well. I'm not sure that I like the brightness on the left side especially around the upper arm.

I apologise, i assumed you meant putting it back into colour. I'll experiment with B&W

                Compelling shot Matt.

I really like this, I am sure Becky likes it as well.

I really do think this would look super in mono.

A superb shot, in my opinion, moody and contemplative, I like the toneing, but would like to see a mono as well.

Not bad, Matt, but I'd still like to have a play myself if you don't mind
