    Hello All,
I got to watch a calf being bon today . It was incredible! I thought that this picture was decent one. I've done a little work with it. I would like any and all opinions. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Jennifer,

I hope you dont mind, but a pet hate of mine are these thumbnails, so I have taken the liberty of reposting:

As for the image, the quality appears quite low, and as such the definition lost. May I ask what processing you have done, and how you have reduced the size to something acceptable to upload?

The composition is lovely though, with the proud mum tending to the little one!

I bet the moment was magical!

      Coupekid,
Thankyou! Because Mom was giving birth i had to be quite a distance away.So I Had My Kodak Easyshare camera stretched to its limit as far as zoom goes. Unfortuneately on these cameras once you pass the halfway point on zoom you start loosing quality . Because of the quality I could not lighten the picture . You could not see the mothers eye because there was a shadow. So I just cloned one from another picture! Oh how I cannot Wait to be able to afford a new camera!Oh and by the way what is the best way To post a full size picture I never seem to be able to do it the correct way .

Quite simular to Coupekid really, the composition is good and I like the way the mother is tending to the child in such a loving way, but the quality really does let it down. Hopefully you'll have that new camera in no time! Also, although I don't personally have an issue with it, cloning from other images can be taken rather badly by some, as some would argue its "cheating" a good picture.

        Good luck
        Matt

It sounds like you were using the digital zoom function on your camera Jennifer. I switch them off on my digicams, preferring to crop in the software after.

As for posting a fullsize image here........ when you upload a pic to your gallery, 3 versions are produced unless its too small to do so. There is the regular thumbnail one, and if you on that you get a medium one, click on that and you get the largest version at the size you uploaded. Its best to not go over say 1000pixels as most people will have to scroll horizontally to see it all.

If you look under the medium and large versions there is the UBB code which you need to highlight, then copy crtl c and paste ctrl v into your post where you want it. If its a portrait format shot, I like to centre it on the page, si if you centre justify the cursor and paste onto that the image will appear in the middle of the post. There are other ways of showing images, but this is my favourite method if you want critique.

Its also worth repeating that if you post an attachment which takes you to the image in your gallery, then you are taking people away from the thread and they have to come back to comment or continue reading the thread. If you intentionally want to take people to your gallery then thats different of course.

            Steven,
Do you agree with matt about the cloning from another picture?

I don't have a problem with it so long as you are not trying to show something thats not really there and therebye deceiving. In this case, if you have cloned an eye, effectively to open it, that must be good, I've done it many times. I think this is essentially what Matt was saying.
