  • The only shot...

...from an otherwise abortive day out with Stephen last week (following a nightmare trek to the wrong location, following 8 miles of off-roading in my strictly non-4x4 car...), this is one of six shots I took all day.

It's the sun setting behind Spofforth Castle, which is close to Harrogate in North Yorkshire and I thought I'd share it because it shows that even when all else has failed and you feel like giving up, there's nearly always something half-decent you can photograph, even if it happens to be as predictable as an old ruin like this one...

    Bearface,
I don't think this picture is predictable at all. Personally I belive that This picture proves that good things come to those who wait! I think it may need to be lightened up and then warmed a bit. Other than that It is a beautiful picture.

Great conversion to a truly dramatic shot Tim. You are absolutely right though, it is always possible to pull something out of the bag even when the conditions are against you. I recall with this place we both commented on the fact that the sun was in the wrong direction and shots were very limited. Anyway I like what you have done to this one, and its inspired me to have another look at the handful I took at this location.

Hi is this the same day you took the fire shots?, even these shots and the fire shots show that the day was not as bad as you felt, it may have seemed that way but you still got some really good images. I like these images, but the fire shots are still tops.
