I like to see different interpretations of the photo untill I come down to the final version.
I just need a few days to practice with some plugins, make my life easier in modifying photos. Once I get the right tools for the job, I know exactly what to do. Currently I have in front of me 6 full albums (around 150 photos each) from the 50s 60s from my parents time.
All these nice effects there, just waiting for me to get a hold of a good plugin set.

By the way this was done with Filters Unlimited, and the bluring was done with my primary editor.

Virtual photographer Stephen suggested, I downloaded a few days ago and is very good, but in some specific effects creates some mysterious artifacts or to be more precise degrades the picture in such a way that looks partially pixelated in some parts.

One way of controlling the effect of any filter, plugin, alteration - is to apply the alteration on a new/adjustment layer. That enables you to fade/reduce the transparency level of the adjusted layer or even erase small areas of the adjustment by using the eraser tool at anything from 1-100% transparency.

Using layers also enables you to use the various layer modes alongside the transparency slider ....... giving you a huge range of options.

I almost always use layers when I'm tweaking - then the option to revert back is always available to me.

Hopefully, I will be expert in post processing and special effects before the photo exhibition day that I have to participate.

It took me ages before I decided to get my head around layers but it's actually very easy once you start playing with them and realise the potential.

I used to be a graphics software and plugin addict and always headed straight to THIS LINK when I was looking for anything. Scroll down and look through the links in the left side column. Loads of freebies, brushes, plugins, explanations tutorials etc.

Hi Audrey,

I have to choose some images and apply some effects for the exhibition I mentioned previously. So in this case I prefer to choose some colorful image (since all my photos are taken in color) that has good potential in terms of theme and color.
I prefer the colorful version too, but the special effects don't fit quite OK as in the B&W versions.
