I took this shot about ten years ago when I was still in my fifties. I was visiting Lake Tahoe and had a chance the ride "The Wall" at Kirkword Ski Area. Take a close look and you'll see a couple of skiers way down below. I took this shot just before I started my descent. I was trying for a shot that gave the viewer a little perspective of how steep the run was. Not sure I succeeded. Your thoughts?
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room. GoldenYearsGeek.com
I like the idea, but for me the snowboard pointing towards the slope would have been better.
As it is it seems disconected with the sharp edge of the snowboard cutting across the image making it appear like two seperate images..at least to me it does, others may disagree.
Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.
I'm 51 and the last time I ski'd at Lake Tahoe I was probably about 28 And there was a drought, so the snow was mostly artificial. I was impressed at how civilised American skiers are when queueing for the lifts!
Getting a sense of perspective is very difficult with ski areas. You need a binocular 3D feel to get that sense - maybe 3D video would do it?
Steepness is always difficult to convey with photos. I hadn't realized that it could be interpreted as looking up but you're right. Here's a shot of the same slope from below.

I resumed skiing (and took up snowboarding) at 50 after a 34 year absence from the sport. I took up competitive sky diving at 16 and devoted many years to that pastime.
At 66 I'm having more fun on the snow than ever before. In 2008 I got my "15 minutes of fame" by becoming the first racer ever to become age group National Champion in both skiing and snowboarding at the same time. In all I've picked up eight national titles.
My weekend job is to function as the pacesetter for ski racers at Okemo Mountain in southern Vermont.
10 inches of snow fell at my condo in Connecticut last night! After the paucity of snow last season I'm psyched.

wow! that now shows the angle of the slope much better.
