Looking for feedback on this image please. It was taken just as the fog/mists were clearing over Lake Windermere.
All I have cropped out of the image is a couple of mooring posts which were at the bottom of the image.
I'll let the true experts offer constructive critique.
For me it looks good. Nicely balanced with good colour and the background mist gives it some atmosphere.
I like it - my only niggle is that it looks a little dark. I can see fog or mist in the background and the exif data says this was taken early-ish in the morning. This probably explains the nice warmth of the tones.
Excellent composition, with the main subjects complementing each other and nicely filling the frame. The crisp morning light gives a very fresh, clean image and the deep reflections are wonderful. There are enough clouds in the sky to make it interesting and the mist lingering in the background is the icing on the cake. There's a fine line between being deeply saturated and underexposed and, as Ian said, it may be a little dark. Brightening it by around half a stop might just make it perfect, but it all depends how it prints - and you must get this printed, it deserves it!

I've just checked the histogram and it is bunched to the left. Moving the right sliider inwards to meet the right-hand edge of the histogram lightens it perfectly.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I'll try lightening it as John and Ian have suggested, and I'll print out a small 6x4 to see what it prints like. If it prints OK, I think this may just be the first photo I have ever had printed to display!
I like this photograph because it illustrates the calm of the early morning on water and the stillness of the water before the wind picks up. I like the fact that the sun's reflection of the slight movement of the water is shown on the two hulls of the yachts. For me it is lovely image which probably could be improved by lightening the scene slightly.

I'm with John on this. It looks more rich than dark on my monitor which makes it look like a large transparency...timeless. It has good light, good composition and a peaceful subject. ...more please
