There was some html and javascript in there for some reason and that won't work in the forum - it has to be BBCode. I've fixed it for you

Would be nice to see some camera settings in the metadata but that has been stripped out.

I love looking at forest fungi but I have to admit they scare me!

Thanks, Ian. I always shoot RAW and typically do a fair amount of PP in Lightroom and Photoshop so exposure info becomes somewhat useless.

I like #s 1&2 but I don't think the B&W does anything for the subject. Also in #1 there is a large area of moss and leaves in the foreground that is out of focus and distracting, cropping the foreground would make a better image.

          David,

Thanks for your input. Regarding the b&w, there was very little color to add to the image to begin with. I think the texture of the mushroom is better displayed in b&w. Regarding the "distracting" foreground of moss and leaves, it was my sense that the green moss was not the central subject matter of this image but provided a beautiful color to offset the red of the mushroom so I rendered it out of focus with a shallow dof. Cropping it out would lose the contrast between the green of the moss and the red of the mushroom. In other words, it is there and out of focus intentionally and, to my way of thinking, the image would suffer without it.
