I've come to really enjoy your low key photography, Mihir. This is a nice example and very abstract. I feel I see a black band at the base of the image though - is that correct?

Aha! You need to blend the filled in bit more effectively

Looks like my monitor needs recalibration again, the band does now show up on my monitor, and I thought it was blended in! Thanks for pointing it out!

My first thought was that the dark band needed to be cropped out because it was dominating the whole shot and distracting from the subjects however, lifting it to resemble a gradient may do the trick and still keep your preference for a square image.
I like the low lighting of the upper half a lot.

Good idea! I will try and reprocess this image in light of your suggestions. This one was done in a bit of a hurry. I am also convinced that I need to get some prescription glasses for my eyes now...

I think the darkest blacks in the original shot simply need to be darkened to match the added bottom section - you could even do this without layers by processing image as it is, say, in Lightroom as the dark base probably already is 100% black and won't get any darker. I wouldn't recommend lifting the added area as then there would be no true blacks - one of my pet hates

I changed the brightness settings on my monitor and am suddenly seeing flaws in a lot of images! Back to the processing board!

Funny stuff! The head in the tea cup with the cross above it is classic. Nice work.

                          Great photography
Use of black effect is perfect and minimal...Though funny vision
