the old Station booking office. The buildings are now used for open visiting. Trains do still use the station but only by arrangement for special parties etc.

    Lovely image Pops!

If I may make a comment though as it is in the critique section, the shot feels a little claustophobic.
Obviously not being there, it may well have been this way anyway, but if possible I think stepping back a little and shown a little more of the surrounding area and the bases of the items may have benefitted the shot.

I also think this would look super in mono, or even sepia to add age to the shot.

Still a really nice image though!

      Re: Inside

I'm afraid I can't agree with you Ben on this one. I personally feel that Pops has created a good detail shot, OK they are essentially touristy props (I'm guessing), but it gives a nice feel for the age of steam without the usual more cliched shots of engines, steam etc.

I also like the lighting and warm tones which would be destroyed in mono. Perhaps a little more control of highlight & shadow, but that shouldn't be an issue. I also think maybe it could be a tad sharper, maybe some gentle USM may help.

I like the image Pops, wel done

        Thanks coupekid and Stephen.
The room in which the items were displayed was very small indeed. It was in fact the small area which used to be the customer side of the ticket office. I already had my back up to the wall in the opposite corner. Also, on the immediate left there was a doorway. Had I included any of this I feel it would have spoilt the image. On the right and, low down, was an electric wall socket, again I felt this would have spoilt the image.

The station is still workable but is directed towards tourism in it's layout and furniture. I did try to avoid any train shots which are the norm when visiting a railway station.

Another one highlighting the age which I rather liked.

I used to live in a 'Station House' so your photographs brought back happy memories. I like the close crop in the first one - gives a comfortable, contained feel to it, especially with the warm colouring. Wish the scuttles interior didn't get in the way so much though. The platform shot, full of detail, is also interesting and having the stonework and mullioned windows so typical of station buildings, has no need for the inclusion of a train to know where it is. Thank you
