  • Sidney Skyscrapers

I took this photo about 2 years ago through the coach windows. We had just arrived in Sidney and I was knocked out by these tall buildings surrounded by the beautiful blue sky.

I have and had wanted to take images of buildings angled like this. If I had been out of the coach I think I would have tried to get the left hand side one vertical whilst keeping the right one angled from the corner.

Is there a correct way to do this? ie Should at least one of the buildings be vertical, or doesn't it matter if they are as I took this grab shot?

Also, you can see the flag is leaning, would you remove it? I also know that bits of the cloud are burnt out, but I am not very good with the dodge tool.

I only cropped the filter from the coach window at the bottom of the picture and made a slight "S" in curves. Basicly it was ok straight out of the camera.
    I didn't sharpen.

The reason I am asking these questions, is that I have to enter something for our Photographic Socy monthly competition and I am struggling to find anything, so just to put in something a bit different for me, I thought I would try this, but I would like some input from you first.

    Re: Sidney Skyscrapers

    Hi,

If you have Photoshop CS2 under filters/distort/lens correction there is a section for correction of vertical perspective. I tried it and you will have to have a couple of goes to sort it out. Both buildings end up the correct perspective but you will have to do a bit of cropping (or cloning) at the bottom corners. Hope this helps. Like the buildings - very strong with good sky. (By the way an Aussie would call his city Sydney)

Thanks, I will have a go. I did really know how to spell Sydney. All my photographs are marked "Sydney". It obviously was a typing error. Mind you, if you had asked me the correct spelling, I would have had to look, I couldn't remember.

        Hi Autumn,
Yes a very strong image and lovely sky as diggit stated, and well worth the effort to do as he suggests, would also suggest a little tweeking of the levels and curves.
