  • Tree perspective near Rogie Falls

I thought I'd have a break from models on Brighton Beach

Taken last year on my way from Inverness airport to the Isle of Skye. I stopped off to have a look at Rogie Falls, but this scene was nearby:

It has been suggested I show the colour version:

lovely! I like the way the eye is drawn upwards and to the left following the trunks of the trees... my personal preference would be for boosting the blacks a bit more..

          Mmm - spoilt for choice.

          I like them both.

Black and white just edges it for me Ian, both are striking images.

Love the viewpoint and the b/w does it for me

Colour for me, the b&w is just to fussy (for want of a better word) and lacks the freshness of the colour version.

Re: Tree perspective near Rogie Falls

Something I often observe, whenever I view images on a computer screen, is the effective cropping that occurs when scrolling to view what follows...

With both the Colour and the B&W, for me the image composition is improved by cropping the top, down to a point where the large dark branch, that reaches out to the top RH corner, extends from its trunk.

The center of convergence, of the trees, being slightly left of center also provides for a further crop, that removes some of the extremely slanted trees, to the right of the main foreground tree, and brings the convergence point to the middle of the picture.

The image is then of a shape that lends itself to becoming the cover of the CD case, in which the pictures of the trip are stored.

Both look good Ian but I prefer the B&W one
