There is a catch light in one eye, the other looks a bit smudged, but I see a light pixel there perhaps you could lighten it and then there would be a catchlight in both eyes.
Re exposure, a shadow is cast over its nose and neck but I wouldn't know what, if anything could be done about that - even if you wanted to. I think it is a charming picture and it captured my attention. I like the composition.
Some of the big boys with big lenses will know what, if anything needs to be done to improve it.

Hi Guy,
Lovely shot (loving that title as well!).
It looks like you were up against it with the lighting, not much you can do about that, maybe a very slight tweakwith the shadow/highllight tool may soften it slightly.
The only thing I would have done differently in this instance, is a shallower depth of field to blur out the background, isolating the animal from the background to make the shot a little easier on the eye. Still a nice shot though!

Guy I'm not much good at putting into words how I would improve your picture. So I have posted an example. Bare in mind that I don't have the original so your name and web address has suffered. Hi Ron. You have done what I would have with regard to the foliage.
Just one thing, I recalibrated my monitor about 1 hour ago and the kudu's mouth and parts of the ears look duckegg blue on your image. Is this my monitor, or is it some way that you have adjusted the image? What colour does the mouth look on anyone else's monitor?Comment

Autumn there is probably nothing wrong with your monitor. I see about the same in my image, mainly due to reducing size and alterations to the exposure level. Picture is just a touch too dark now I see it posted. Was done just to show what is needed. Would spend a lot longer on it if it was my own.Originally posted by Autumn View Post

Correct me if I am wrong. I think you selected the background and blurred it a little. Filter Blur?
Selected Inverse and played with levels and contrast
Then cloned out the foliage in the foreground
Or maybe you could tell me step by step so that I may learn please.

Thanks for your input, The shadow I can't do much about, He was looking straight at me from a distance of about 4 meters. 13 -14 ft. It was about 9.30 am sun already high in the african sky.Comment

That's about it, not quite the same order in which I did it but your end result is spot on. I did not try to explain as I use Microsoft's Digital Image and the processes have different names to Photoshop or some of the other popular programmes.
