I agree that it is a wonderful tree, and I like the way you have captured it with the line of trees taking the eye across the screen emphasising the tree canopy against an interesting sky. The trunk stands out well against the earth, is that part of your reason for modifying the colour? Just my opinion but it has the look of a painting rather than a photograph - the featured cloud seems very light, but I think pleasing nonetheless.
Again personal opinion, I think the black frame very heavy and would rather see it with a softer brown frame.
Thank you for your remarks. Wasnt quite sure about the colour but wanted to emphasis the centre of the picture. Power lines well spotted Stuart - thank you - they are gone now. Original photo attached.
I've had a play with it because it looked a little flat and had a yellow colour-cast on my monitor. But, and it's a big but, I have a new monitor which I haven't got round to calibrating yet so what I perceive as "better" might not be.
Tweaked levels, adjusted contrast, used "more blue" in variations (CS2). There are others on here (with calibrated monitors!) who might get a better end result.

I agree with all above. Was going to have a go at it as well but no need to now, your version looks OK on my screen.

Wouldn't want this to get around but I have a sort of fetish for trees and this one is a cracker. Not overly tall but with a lot of strong character.
Just for the record I prefer the original.
Thanks for that. This is a tree sitting in the middle of a unused paddock that I have always had an affection for. The day I took the photo (s) there was also an interesting cloud formation so that was the time I actually stopped. I really like trees (clothed and unclothed) and do photo quite a lot.
Hi Ddigit,
I like the image overall, and I like both versions, but I think that the original has the edge, especially if the levels and curves are edited to give it more punch and with the wire cloned out, as some one has already suggested. a great landscape.
Trevor,
I love the concept. I am not sure yet on the colors(US spelling!) Of course that is just a matter of opinion. I like the frame alot. The thought I get from this beautiful picture is the momments before a big storm. I don't know why. I bekieve it may be the colors. I think it is a great shot.
nice pic trevor i to love trees no 2 ever the same so always get something different, personaly i thought the black frame to heavy for the picture ie to in your face detracts you away from the actual pic--prefered it without frame but thats just my opinion
