Re: Another E-M5 model portrait
Ok! As I wrote (in another place), my preference is for very tight composition, so I'd crop further to make it appeal to my eye.Originally posted by Ian View PostOver a hundred views but no comments? Go on - have a go
Ian
On the subject of eyes, and being super critical, I was told to have the full circle of the iris showing whenever posible, with a very small amount of the white on the side towards the camera in side shots such as this.
Also the highlight in her left eye falls fully within the iris, but in her right eye the highlight intersects the edge of the iris and blends into the white of the eye. This makes the left eye more attractive than the right, introducing a tension into the image as it draws the attention to the far eye which has the softer focus.
These small variations can convey a different emotional "feel" across an image, making the overall emotion difficult to read.
So much has been said (in other places) about the IQ and the way this lens reproduces fine detail. For me IQ is of prime concern and I have a strong dislike of the "Picture Perfect" rendered skin that we see so much of in magazines and advertising.
Well done on showing us just how good this lens is in its prime role. I can imagine that there was very little time available to you to get this image, and considering you are working with completely new (unfamiliar) kit, I appreciate how well you have done in producing it.

Re: Another E-M5 model portrait
Here are a couple more views of the same model and venetian blinds.

I have not done any post processing apart from a slight crop to the portrait mode shot. On reflection the images are on the warm side.
Are these better with the frame of reference (the blinds being visible)?
