    Re: Mono or colour

Both look good but I prefer the colour version as the b/w version seems too dark under the model's chin. Also the hair colour and the steps colour are a good match.

I agree with Geoff. Definitely the colour version.

Sun-kissed golden girl. Lovely picci (especially nice to look at on a cold, wet Winter evening).

The colour version has a nice warmth about it.
I like the natural pose, could easily be a candid shot.

another vote for the colour version - same reason as geoff - and also because her left arm is hidden further in the mono shot.

if you try another mono conversion, using channels, then the choice between the 2 becomes harder. i'd also consider getting the perspective de-skewed so that the steps are horizontal within the photo.

            Re: Mono or colour?

Colour for me Ian as the mono has lost a lot of the mood in the transition, looks like it was a straight conversion in LR to me with no input from the B &W panel sliders.

By the way it's a great pic and one I would have been proud to have taken, the model and the lighting are beautiful.

Just for your consideration Ian a 3 minute job in LR3, I will delete from my gallery later Ian.

            Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

OlyPaul beat me to it Ian. A good conversion to b&w beats the colour version hands down after ten minutes in ACR.
Was it a snapshot Ian? It looks posed but the framing is awful!
              Sorry!

There were a lot of us jostling around and this was more of a snap than a carefully executed composition

Here is the original unadjusted frame.

All things considered, I'm quite pleased with the crop.

Just re-read my comment Ian - sorry about the abruptness, that's why I don't often comment on pics. I tend to write just what I would have said if we were looking at it together, and written down it seems rude.
I didn't criticise the crop - just the framing, and apparently you were limited.

Roger I don't think I could ever take offence from you
