  • Langstone Bridge, Hampshire

We all have our favourite spots for landscape images. I shall share some of mine with you.

The first such location is Langstone Road bridge which is the only connection between Hayling Island and the mainland. The bridge crosses a channel between Langstone and Chichester Harbours. The remains of a second bridge can be seen which used to carry the famous Hayling Billy railway line between Havant and South West Hayling.

The first of a series of images from this location is below. The time chosen was dawn. I waited for a calm day at high tide to give the best atmosphere (mud banks are dominant at low tide).

The sequence starts before sunrise. I have included sailing boats in all of these sequences as they provide additional interest.

    Camera Olympus E5 + ZD 12-60 at 54mm. ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/80s

The sun is just breaking the horizon.

    Camera Olympus E5 + ZD 12-60 at 12mm. ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/200s

    Camera Olympus E5 + ZD 12-60 at 60mm. ISO 200, f/10, 1/100s

These are just a selection of my images in this sequence. The gallery containing these can be found here.

    Hope you like these.

The tranquility shines through, it must have been wonderfully peaceful at that time.
Capturing the gull and its reflection in the 2nd was a bonus

Thank you Pol and Pops for your replies

At this time of the morning, you have no problems in arriving on-time and setting up. You also have the time to make judgements about what, where and when to shoot. A relaxing and enjoyable experience.
            Kind regards

                  Thank you Barr1e,

The trail in the sky is from an aircraft. Shooting star would have been nice though.
