Gosling

This is two crops of the same photo. I always struggle with how much to crop (if it's required), context or just subject.

Which do you think works best? IMO it would be 1, but the half back ground bird bugs me hence crop 2.

Hi Ed, if if the background Gosling was all in the frame and not cut off it would not bother me as it is nicely out off focus and adds to the story and composition.

I know you only asked about the cropping but I think if you had waited till he lifted his head from behind the plant or changed your viewpoint to avoid it then it would have improved what is already a nice image considerably. Of course these are all personal opinions and should be taken as such.

Hi Paul,

I have a feeling looking at my other photos I either just missed it lifting it's head or it didn't. Can't remember why I didn't change position though, I couldn't have gone further left or back as the water was there, but the other side would have been possible.
