Last photo of the year for me anyway.

This and lots of others taken at a rodeo at a small country town in South Canterbury. This is a yearly event and draws a huge crowd. Plenty of action - difficult to photo. Probably a bit soft but sharpening wasnt an option because I thought the photo might lose movement. What do you think.??

Excellent shot imho. Dynamic, dramatic and certainly plenty of movement ...... complete with the 'thud' as he bit the dust, poor man.

No need to sharpen but and contrast would effectively bring up some of the details more clearly. No need to sharpen, as the slight levels/contrast tweaks would effectively make some of the details 'pop' just a little more without compromising all the movement and dust.

Excellent and I can almost feel the fall and inhale the dust. I feel it's a pity a little of the horses head is not visible but in this situation what you achieved is fantastic. Full of the excitement of the rodeo. Perhaps a little more contrast?

Fantastic... agree with the others about contrast, but an excellent shot as it is.. Initially slightly confused about which end of the horse I was looking at, but that's just me and lack of sleep due to playing mum's taxi and not getting to bed til 730 this morning!

Great detail in the shot and good display of the event. Saddle Bronc is a tough ride. Can get some real highs (unintended dismounts)! I also liked the idea of the same view of both elements (southbound end of a northbound . . ..). The rider's jeans also illustrate how small his contact patch is with the horse. Demonstrates a lot of the elements of this sport! Good Job!

I live in a rural area in the USA and this photo with its caption would be VERY popular! I am just starting out but I say BRAVO! Great work I love it

Rodeo in New Zealand too, eh? Great shot, maybe helped by a touch of contrast, that's all...

Yes the framing and the name were done in Photoshop. The same thing can be arrived at using a program called "The Gimp". This is a photoshop type program but the best part of it is the cost .........$0.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for the comments. I live in the Canterbury plains in New Zealand in a small rural town. Minutes from town are dairy farms, sheep farms and grain growing areas. (I recognised the John Deere tractor - great photo by the way) - got plenty of those tractors here plus a good number of vintage traction engines.
