    Re: Dead Wall

I think that this is one of those subjects which doesn't express itself very well in a photograph. I would imagine the reality to be quite an awsome sight with all those angles, straight lines and reflections. A 7 story building taken head on is a bit much for me and I keep being drawn to The section of 6 windows (just above bottom centre) with the crane jib reflected which I feel would be a photograph in itself

As Pops has said, I can see the attraction to this place because it must be an awesome sight, particularly inside. This shot is certainly appealing in the abstract sense, but personally I'd prefer a photo which reveals the scale, the mood and the general feel of the place, whereas this particular perspective seems a little one-dimensional, at least to me.

If you have any more shots of this place, please post them. Can anyone gain access to the power station for photography, or were you there under unusual circumstances?

        Re: Dead Wall

as a stand alone image it is an interesting experiment in abstract imagery, it would be far better as part of a series of images of the place, however it would make a great jigsaw. How the heck did you manage to get in there to take photographs?

          Re: Dead Wall

The station was open to the public for the first time earlier this year with a Chinese art installation on show. It is more than likely the last time we will see it in it's present state. The treatment of this building is to me a national disgrace. It has been sold again recently (how many times is that now?) and one can only have fears for what might happen.
The gable wall was just one of many variations. I like it for it's pattern/grid-like appearance and it is my favourite especially at full size. Movement was restricted externally and internally .
I will now post a few more (thanks for asking Tim) just to give you more of an idea of the scale of this incredible landmark.

This one I feel really shows the scale inspite of some distortion but I thought the distortion added some nobility to the building.

With this one I was annoyed that the plane was not positioned against the cloud rather than the sky. Does look better full size though.
