Perhaps too dark for some people! I guess for me personally, it was one of those pics which was 'special' for me! The downsizing for the web I think does not do it justice! Your critique & suggestions appreciated!

I'd be pretty happy with this one Joc. Some may say clone out the telegraph/power cables or the birds. I wouldn't bother, they are part of the scene. However, the horizon and pier are sloping down to the right, and something needs to be done with that.

I would suggest that rather than rotating the image and loosing the resulting corners, it may be better to select the image, go to Edit > Transform and select Distort. Then with the handle in the bottom left, drag it down until the horizon is level then crop

      Hi Jocelyn -

      I don't do critique.

However I like your image. The making of a fine print.

Lovely sunset Jocelyn. I agree with Stephen's advice.

As you say you think that it has lost something in downsizing, you could try NOT downsizing it quite as much.

To be truthful, I hadn't noticed the large white border until I saw it in your gallery. I think I would reduce this border (unless you are going to put a thin dark line on the outside, so that it does not merge into the white background).

Try it with the black outline that we see as being your border and then resize it to about 1000 wide. If you straighten your horizon as Stephen suggests and then re post it, we will see it nearer to what you see.

        Good Luck.

Jocelyn I love the scene but not how you have presented it here, there has been some good points about the sloping bridge but I feel these are not as important to correct as the square format, for me personally a landscape shot is a no no in a square format and sets the scene badly from the off, you could maybe choose a different crop from the original, straighten your stuff as others have said and have another bash and repost it.
Don't rush it, take your time.
The bird in the shot is sweet and add's to the scene very well.

I've taken your advice Stephen & straightened the photo etc! Have taken Audrey's advice as well & made it slightly bigger!

Thank you Caz & Audrey! Yes, I agree this version is better, it shows the light better! I still can't work out how to maximise landscape format when creating a new document for border though! The STD 6 X 4 doesn't seem to work!
