Morning mist.

I think this picture has potential but I can't decide how to crop it. There is burnout from the sun (not as bad as this jpeg suggests) and I don't much like the cut off blue boat at the bottom.

Advice please, and feel free to hack the picture about as much as you like.

I have had a play and feel coping some of the top off and cloning the blue boat at the bottom out.
If the blue boat is croped out the others in my opinion are too close to the bottom of the image.

Hi! Ages since I posted but I'm here again!
My feelings about Cap'n Bill's Morning Mist are that cloning out the stern is about the only option, I agree with Patrick that a crop out leaves the other boats too close to the bottom, I've messed about too and suggest a crop on left of pic to exclude the ?fence, clone the aforementioned stern but leave the rest as the sun in real life does look burnt out if you see it through mist over water, so personally I would'nt worry about it too much. Now I like the bit of fence at the side and (unusually for me) I don't mind the burnt out sky, just a little to much of it hence suggesting cropping some off.

increase blacks.
sharpen 40, radius 0.5.
noise reduction 35 on luminence.

Ash I really think your version is super! It has brought out points of interest that weren't easily seen on original photo!

Thank you all for your comments. this is the final version, mainly just cropped, levels adjusted and white balance warmed up a bit.

I like this version - lovely translucent feel to the mist, and you've brought the colour of the boats out well. Lovely autumnal scene.

Apart from the crop, it does'nt really look much different other than boost in contrast which makes the burnout even more apparent.
