  • Tree Monster

Day out at the park today with the family and this frame caught my eye. Today I did have my macro lens attached and was experimenting with my in camera processing. Normally I have everything on default choosing to post process in elements or lightroom, however this takes time and time is of a premium.
So as such this being my own little experiment which Im sharing.
Camera and settings are d90 with 60mm micro lens, everything to default apart from pic control set to vivid. Active d lighting off. Just to confirm vivid mode boost contrast and sharpness.
    iso 1600, f8, 1/90 sec.
So apart from resize and slight sharpening preset in lightroom when I save for web, no other alterations.
I apreciate that not all presets will accomodate all shooting conditions but it begs the question that do we really need to spend so much time pp on the pc for certain shots that the camera processing can do for us!
Comments welcome and your input into this topic welcome.
Also what would you do to improve the image that the camera could have possibly done.
    Ash.

I like it Not sure what else you could have done. It's an interesting natural formation. Mayeb you could have got someone to pose by running away from the tree with a terrified experssion?

Yes I think Thomas would have been good at the play acting only he was busy elswhere taking his own pictures.

I was just interested who else on the forum uses or favours the in camera processing features that most camera's have but most keen amatuers and pro's choose not to use.
I think maybe if I was doing a kids party or shoot where all the pics are going to be pretty much the same content I might preset the cam for ease and save time later.

After watching the Harry Potter series over the past few days I think this shot fits the bill.
