Simple things can make for great images, not that Im saying this is great but with a little imagination you can still take images in the home that have impact.
So next time its raining out and freezing cold, wonder round the house and get snapping!

You are absolutely right of course, and in this case the portrait format challenges the brain a little...........................think I'd prefer it landscape actually but no matter its still an interesting shot. Rather too many compression or high ISO artefacts for my liking, have you attempted to minimise these?

      Re: Macro Art

I always view images such as this "art" rather than a photograph. While photography may have been the initial process and subsequent manipulations may have rendered the image in various ways, the end result as presented is the that which I consider.

I'm always looking for inspiration for my own images, and here the colours, tones, composition are very pleasing. As the weather discourages outdoor activities, these type of shots become a prefered activity.

      Thanks for showing this.

        Re: Macro Art

Thanks guys for your interest, this was taken with a d200 when I did my b&w week challenge a while back, adding the preset tone in lightroom seams to have brought out some iso grain which I quite like, I think the portrait/landscape thing is to personal taste.
Spot focusing on the knife at f1.4 has made for an interesting shot I think and Im glad I gave it the time in lightroom to tinker with the presets

Dunno what your latest imnage is but it reminds me of a view down he inside of our aircon outlet tube.

              Ash,

I was just thinking ... maybe you could start a new thread in the 'assignments and challenges' forum for this sort of macro art, or maybe some other title. Something along the lines of everydsay objects portrayed in an artic way.

It could be a great thread for the cold, wet Autumn and Winter days - could run on and on for ages. I mean - the Assignments and Challenges never close - it's something peeps can add to for ages. Nice topic too - no need to leave the warmth and comfort of yer own home.

Here's a link to the assignments and challenges form

We haven't had a new thread in there for ages so why not go for it, Ash.

Aha - it's an egg cup innit, Ash. I know that because I just got around to looking at it in the gallery ... and you gave it a title wot gave the game away.

Y little tinker! You got it, although Im not sure the green treatment works
Fantastic idea about the thread but I feel maybe it could be a nice little challenge thread for someone that maybe does not or is not able to get out and about as well as I can be it rain or shine or summer or winter, so I will have to decline your idea in hope that someone reading this takes up the challenge.
I will of coarse post plenty of images to the challenge.
                  Ash.
