The idea of the shot being menacing would probably never have occurred to me had you not used it in your title Tom. It looks to me like an agricultural implement and the user is simply having a rest For it to be menacing I feel it would have to be gripped tighter and in not such a relaxed position.

On a more technical note, there seems to be a halo effect down the line of the trousers, as though its been oversharpened or the b/g has been burnt in a bit

BTW when I first saw the image I thought he was carrying a rather ripe banana

      Hi

I can see why you would title the image the way you have but would feel it more if I could see more of the person in front of the guy with the "knife". I agree with Stephen on the Sharpening, there does seem to be some issue with the picture quality. Is it a heavy crop?

      best regards

        Re: Menace

If this shot was to be judged on technical merit it deserves to go down the drain. There's no doubt but it is a rough around the edges. You are right; I wish it was a bit better too.
To me, with all it's technical weaknesses, it conveyed a strong mood of someone being stalked and with something more sinister/violent possibly to follow. So, it is this atmosphere that gave the picture it's strength for me, and obviously it's title. I appreciate that not everybody would see things like this.

Josh, you picked up on the person in front, without whom there is no picture. Personally I really enjoyed the fact that there was just enough here for the imagination to conclude what might be on the agenda. But you brought up an interesting observation that has me thinking.

        Thanks Stephen and Josh
