Okay, I have many questions I need to ask myself from the last post but I thought I'd post another of these 'postcard' shots. Again I liked this one, and would usually put it in the Eye of the camera type forum, but would like to hear what you think; I believe the images I am producing have improved over the last three years (at least I like them ) but I want to have various view to help me develop further, so here goes...

This is Stamford, Lincolnshire in the UK. A lovely town with many nice stone buildings and used by many movie productions - and the E-system togs for a meet in 2009

At first sight the picture is immediately attractive to the eye. The blue sky, the flowers, and the lines created by the bridge and the road leading the eye up to the church. Not to mention the great depth of the image.

After the initial impact wears off one can't help noticing the geometry of the picture created by the wide angle lens and perhaps the fact the camera was probably pointing up slightly. The buildings to either side have converging verticals and even the church spire is not plumb. Perhaps the most difficult to correct is the lamppost. The Edit, Transform, Distort tool in Photoshop will correct most of this though.

I remember that spot well I took quite a few shots of the florally decorated lamp posts last year (they don't seem to have cleaned up the filthy lamps though!).

Stephen has really said everything I would have. This kind of scene would benefit well from a tilt and shift lens!

Thanks Guys,

Believe it or not I had already corrected a little of the distortion, but I agree some more is still needed. Trade-off with losing some of the picture.

Ian - yip those lamps! I didn't notice them until I got back.
