    I think Andrew is saying that from a purist's point of view, with ART the result is what was envisaged right at the start. Accidentally creating a pleasing result is not really art.

    My point is that so-called artists are frequently getting highly regarded results by luck rather than skill

      Yes IM 100% with you on the no rules, I too like the impact and emotion of soft focus and blur. A photographer i like uses a lot of those technical elements in his photography Here But the is no luck involved as he has a vision in his mind on how to make the final image.

        Absolutely agree, alot of frames I take are not text book and rule of thirds perfect but I feel they are as I intended them to look. Is this wrong? I don't think so, individuality and thinking outside of the box is 'art', be different, be yourself and shoot the frame with feeling!
