  • Tip of the Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lens hood's are not just for stopping flare from bright light sources such as the sun, on your pics, or making your lens look big and cool

Last night I was taking some shots and regretably used my old 20 quid tripod which was far more to hand than my manfrotto, I accidently released the plate while trying to position the camera which resulted in my d200 with a 400quid lens attached falling to the floor. Ok I no Im a doppy joe

But because I had my lens hood attached it saved my lens and camera, as it fell forward onto the lens hood, snapped the mounting of the lens hood and broke the fall! I dread to think what state the lens would be in if I had not had the hood attached. Both camera and lens are fine but I have to buy a new lens hood at 10 quid!

So tip of the day is ALWAYS have your lens hood attached, thankfully recently ive got into the habit of leaving my lens hood on permanently with my nikon 18-200vr, and even altered my camera bag so it will fit in with this attached.

Anyone else had any near death experiences with the savior of a lens hood?

    cheers

    Re: Tip of the Day

    Hi Ash -

I hate to admit it but about four months ago I dropped my camera bag on to a stone floor. The drop was only a couple of feet but it snapped the housing of the lens which was attached to the camera.

    Great tip - thanks.
