order of image presentation

I' m trying to become familiar with the galleries. I learned the images could be sorted out in the order of filename or posted date/time among others. As the order of image presentation is an important tool of conveying your underlying messages, if any, i prefer to keep the order based on the posted time. Is it possible to always fix the image presentation order based on posted time? At the moment, i have to sort images accordingly everytime I visit there.
Or the default sorting method is always based on " filename"?
Then I will have to change files names in future to show the order of presentation? I spent a few hours to solve this but almost gave up to do it myself.

p.s. maybe better to use numbers to make it clear what i want to ask:

the file numbers are from #1 to #8. the file name numbers are just given by a software i use.
when posting I changed the order to 1.6.2.4.7.8.3.5 and I want to keep this order. Can I do this?

Maybe this will help? If you go to your gallery you should find a link called Profile. From your profile page (not to be confused with the forum profile) you should see a link called Manage Photos. From there you have options to sort by file name and sort by title. You can change the title to help sort the images in your preferred order by using the Edit Photo option in the gallery or albums. I think you may have to 'submit' the change in order preference in Manage Photos. Let me know if this works.

thanks for it. I tried and changed the title - used a same common title with numbers indicating the preferred order of presentation. I first thought it worked but a new visit to the gallery showed it did not work.

The sorting is done either by filename/filesize/rating/last comment/posted date/views - so not by title, I suppose?

It looks that the default sorting is always done by filename, I suspect I have to change the filenames in presentation order?

Hi Ian,
I have to correct my previous message. When I once again opened my photos right now, the 8 pics were just in order. So I want to say thank you again. What did I observe when I went there last time?

I'm now thinking about:
When I choose a proper title which shows the order, then at least those files are presented in the gallery in the order of posting?! Or just the title order is sufficient to show the presentation order irrespective of the posting order? Maybe I might try when I have a chance.
